Aer Lingus Business Class can be booked from Boston, New York, and Philadelphia for only 45,000 Alaska Atmos points each way. Minneapolis starts slightly higher at 55,000 points, but that route deserves special attention.

Aer Lingus recently announced that its Minneapolis to Dublin service will end on October 25, making the current summer availability potentially one of the final opportunities to fly this route in Business Class. Availability from Minneapolis has also been difficult to find in recent months, so those seats could disappear quickly.

Elsewhere, the calendar is much more flexible. Boston, New York, and Philadelphia all have substantial availability extending into the fall, including some Thanksgiving options from Boston.

Taxes and fees are also very reasonable at approximately $19 one way or $78 roundtrip. Bilt points can be transferred to Alaska, typically within about 10 minutes.

Interestingly, adding an economy connection can occasionally lower the total award price.

American AAdvantage Miles

American charges 58,000 AAdvantage miles each way, with taxes starting at only $6.

The mileage requirement is higher than Alaska’s, but American can become particularly useful for travelers who need to connect from their home airport before taking the Aer Lingus flight across the Atlantic. Some connecting itineraries may price at the same 58,000-mile level.

Citi points can be transferred to American AAdvantage.

Taxes and fees are higher with this option, at roughly $150 each way.

United MileagePlus

United is the most expensive option in terms of miles, charging 93,000 miles each way, or approximately 85,000 miles for eligible United cardholders.

The advantage is flexibility. Taxes are low, and United award tickets can be changed or canceled without fees.

When Can You Travel?

Availability varies considerably by departure city, but the overall calendar is unusually strong.

Boston: Dublin availability runs heavily through August, September, and October, with additional dates into November. Shannon has particularly good availability from October through early December.

Minneapolis: The window is much narrower. Outbound Business Class availability is concentrated between August 4 and August 18, with several return options during the same month.

New York: JFK offers some of the strongest availability in this deal. Dublin flights are widely available through September and October, continuing into November. Shannon also has select availability through early December.

Philadelphia: Business Class seats to Dublin are available across portions of July and August, with another strong stretch during September and October and select dates into November.

Because award inventory can change at any time, always search the airline’s website before transferring points.

For Alaska Atmos points, search Alaska’s website with “Use points” and “Flexible dates” selected. Search one way at a time, filter the results for Partner Business Class, then narrow the results to nonstop Aer Lingus flights.

American’s website is another useful place to search. Select “Redeem miles,” choose Business or First Class, and use the calendar to view a wider range of dates. Nonstop filters make it easier to isolate the Aer Lingus flights.

For Avios bookings, search directly through Aer Lingus Rewards or British Airways. Keep in mind that Avios accounts must be at least 30 days old before points can be moved between participating Avios programs.
