First Impressions: From Eagle Vail Airport to a Sweet Suite Upgrade

We flew into Eagle Vail Airport, which is tiny — and that’s a good thing. Easy to navigate, super quick baggage claim, and just a 30–35 minute drive to the resort. Rental car pickup was painless.
Walking into the Park Hyatt Beaver Creek, I instantly felt the five-star vibes. The lobby? Gorgeous. Fireplace roaring. You know it’s gonna be a good stay.
I’d booked a standard room, but thanks to my Hyatt Globalist status, I was upgraded to a mountain-view room. No suite at check-in, but they told me to check back the next day.
After dinner, I swung by the front desk and Jake — shout out to him — said a junior suite had opened up for my entire stay. I hadn’t even unpacked yet. So I moved rooms right then and there.
And let me tell you — fireplace, mountain views, Nespresso machine, humidifier, plush robes — it was everything. Just felt elevated.
Dining Delights: From Steakhouse to Incredible Breakfasts

We kicked things off with dinner at 8100, the hotel’s onsite steakhouse. The bar was lively, the cocktails were solid, and every dish impressed — a perfect spot for a group meal.
The real surprise? Breakfast. As a Globalist, I received complimentary access to the breakfast buffet, which blew me away. We’re talking:
- A make-your-own juice bar
- Made-to-order omelets
- Lox and bagels
- Fresh waffles and pancakes (with Nutella and M&Ms!)
- Avocado toast bar
If you’re booking through Amex Fine Hotels & Resorts, you’ll also get free breakfast for two. Normally this buffet costs around $61 per person, plus gratuity. Although I always selected the gratuity to pay each morning, and expected that to be on the final bill, the entire breakfast charge was wiped clean.
Ski-In/Ski-Out Perfection: Hitting the Slopes at Beaver Creek

If you’re into skiing or snowboarding — this resort is legit.
The ski valet setup is probably the best I’ve ever used. You just show up and your gear is ready, boots warm, everything set. These folks had crazy good energy every morning. Just be sure to tip them well — they earn it.
You’re literally a two-minute walk from the main gondola that takes you up the mountain. And the mountain itself? Huge. Over 2,000 acres of terrain, 150+ runs, and some of the best powder I’ve had in years.
We lucked out with a perfect powder day, even though it was late season. On top of that, Globalist status came in strong again with a 4PM late checkout, so I squeezed in a few more runs before heading out the last day.

Family-Friendly Vibes: A Note on the Atmosphere
Let’s keep it real: this is a family-friendly resort — and it shows.
There were definitely moments of high-volume chaos. One morning at breakfast featured a kid-level tantrum that echoed across the dining room. Ski boots + sugar = decibels.
If you’re expecting adults-only tranquility, this might not be the vibe. But if you can roll with the family energy, it’s still an awesome experience.
Beyond the Slopes: Relaxation and Amenities

After carving up the mountain, this is exactly the type of place you want to come back to. A few of the standout amenities:
- Exhale Spa with steam rooms and saunas (which are complimentary for guests even if you don’t use the spa)
- Huge fitness center with mountain views
- Heated outdoor lap pool
- Five jacuzzis scattered around the property
- S’mores kits every evening at the outdoor firepits
Even without hitting the spa for a massage, just having access to all these wellness options felt like part of the luxury experience.
There’s definitely something for everyone. Regardless if you’re tearing up the slopes all day, or a friend/family member of someone who is, between the resort and the Beaver Creek Village there certainly are a lot of options of things to do. Especially seeing as the hotel provides local transportation if needed as well!

The Points Strategy: How to Stay for FREE
Now the fun part: how I did all this without spending $7,500+.
- This is a Category 8 Hyatt, so 45,000 points per night.
- I booked 4 nights, so 180,000 Hyatt points total.
- I transferred those points instantly from Chase Ultimate Rewards (1:1 transfer ratio).
Booking this same room through the Chase Travel Portal would’ve cost nearly double the points — around 270,000–320,000 for a standard room. For a suite? Forget it.
This is one of those plays I teach all the time: transfer points to Hyatt, don’t book through the portal. The value is unbeatable if you know what you’re doing. Be sure to visit our comprehensive guide for a better explanation of how the points game works.
Quick reminder: If you have Chase points, don’t rush to book through the portal. Hyatt is one of Chase’s best transfer partners, and this stay is proof. You’ll often get 2x the value (or more) by transferring.
Final Thoughts: A Luxury Experience Worth Sharing
This trip had everything — luxury, convenience, great food, and next-level skiing — all booked with points. That’s what makes traveling with points so worth it.
If you’re looking for a ski trip with friends, a romantic winter escape, or just want to travel like a baller without blowing your budget (by using points), the Park Hyatt Beaver Creek hits all the right notes.
FAQ
Is the Park Hyatt Beaver Creek really ski-in/ski-out?
→ Yes — this is true ski-in/ski-out access. The ski valet is located just steps from the back patio, and it’s only a 1–2 minute walk to the main gondola that takes you mid-mountain. It doesn’t get much more convenient.
Is Beaver Creek good for all skill levels?
→ Definitely. Whether you’re a first-timer, cruising groomers, or hunting powder in the glades, Beaver Creek offers a great variety of terrain. Plus, it’s less crowded than Vail and super family-friendly.
Is the breakfast buffet worth it if I’m not a Globalist?
→ It’s pricey (~$61 per person), but it’s one of the best hotel breakfasts I’ve had. If you have a Hyatt credit card, are booking through Amex Fine Hotels & Resorts, or value a great breakfast experience, it’s worth considering.
What’s the vibe — romantic escape or family chaos?
→ It’s both, depending on the timing. The resort caters heavily to families, especially during ski season and holidays. If you’re looking for a quieter, adults-only feel, aim for mid-week stays or off-peak dates.
Is transferring Chase points to Hyatt always better than using the portal?
→ Not always — but often. For high-end redemptions like this one, transferring to Hyatt usually gives you way more value per point than booking through the Chase Travel Portal. That’s why it’s a go-to move for luxury travel on points. Be sure to use our Point Redemption Calculator to always check and see if you’re getting the best value for your points or not.
